With M @14:08. (+A as Caddy LOL)
As we arrived there was thunder and lightning... not a great start. The advice in the Pro-Shop for dealing with lightning was not to hold a club or stand under a tree.
On practice range 1 failed to hit 1 good shot with new swing...? Not many balls though so perhaps I will be OK after all.
On first tee failed to hit ball took mulligan.
Kept checking backswing looked OK but could not hit ball. For first time in my golf experience I was a bit frustrated. I was back to several months ago, missing ball, hitting a few yards, going from left rough to right rough.
Weather was OK though..
After about 5 holes I decided to revert to my old swing...
What made things worse was that M was also having trouble.
My old swing was good, at least I was hitting well off the tee with trusty 4r and even hit a few fairways towards the end.
Need to review this in next lesson....
At 9th hole had mighty rain storm and was saved by best club in bag .. my umberella.
In the end M beat me on SS by 1 hole and we both ended up with an embarrassing score (the same one).
I did enjoy it but not as much as usual...
A as caddy needs to watch more Sky Sports to find out what a real caddy should do!
Sat 28 Jul 2012 Practice 108 Balls
Pretty much as the day before except I used sw,9i,6i and 4r.
All went well, I was very pleased that my new swing was getting better...
Another good practice.

Fri 27 Jul 2012 Practice 108 Balls
Today had just enough time for a quick practice, so 100 balls.
For a change I took pw, 8i and 4r (rescue).
Plenty of chip and run with pw.
Several full shots with pw and new short back swing and hold at top, make sure club not closed and wrists are solid.
Same with 8i and 4r. Swing good I hope.
Then for last 30 or so put 4 balls down and hit 4r, 8i, pw the chip and run with pw.
Good practice!

What is this all about?
WARNING: some (if not all) of the posts on this blog will be boring.. you have been warned.
I am creating this blog to capture my progress as a 50 something year old starting Golf.
I never wanted to play, but my Brother-in-Law insisted that we play when it was his 50th birthday. We had never played before and we were as bad as any new starters ever.
Over the months since his birthday, we have become more and more enthusiastic and we try to play once a week. As my addiction has grown, I also play once a week with a work mate. So thats twice. Then in an attempt to get better quicker, I have weekly lessons and try to practice at the range once a week.
Addicted?
As I start this blog, I am no great golfer, the exact opposite indeed. But I ALWAYS enjoy the game no matter if I: lose or find balls, lose or win the game or even get a par or a triple bogey. Like all golfers, I would like to be better, but it seems to me that progress will not be rushed.
Not sure of the exact format of this blog, but I expect it will include my golf stories, memory joggers for me about particular rounds, comments from my lessons, perhaps even videos of my swiping at the poor white ball!
And I warn you it will be boring to anyone but me!
