This was my first game in February 2014 and I was worried incase I had forgotten how to hit the ball.
As it happened we picked a good break in the poor weather and we had a nice early Saturday morning tee time. At the club house we were told that there were a few temporary greens and we managed to negotiate a discounted price of 12:50. (Should have been 19 quid.. would be OK on a dry day with proper greens).
We got off roughly on time following a 4 ball and were followed by a 3 ball. This was fine as we just occasionally waited for the 4 ball but were never rushed by the 3 ball. This lead to a sub 4 hour round.
The first hole was a bit problematic as we were straight into the low sun but this was the only weather related problem. The course was perhaps a bit dryer than last time but not much and the greens were pretty poor.
As before we were evenly matched although both our scores were worse than last time. On holes I won 8 and B won 7. On scores there was a bigger difference but thats golf. Only an odd ball was lost and on the whole we were both on the fairway.
The 2nd made us look like we both knew what we were doing as we both landed on the green. B got a par 3 and I got a 4. I had a bit of luck on the water logged 12th with one under on the par 4. I was pleased with my tee shot on the 5th but found it had gone too far down the hill costing me a shot to take it out of the ditch.
It helped having played once before and I learnt a few more things to be avoided in the future. My score is click here.
Although my score was worse I felt that I played OK with a few good excuses for messing up 5 holes. On the 7th I hit a duff from the fee (trying too hard). On the 9th (par 3) I hit a good tee shot that landed in the bunker I messed up getting out and lost one over the other side. This was the start of a bad roll on the 10th I ended up in the bunker on my 3rd shot. On the 11th I went into the tree off the tee and had to take a penalty. On the 14th I hit a duff off the tee and then went over the green twice.
As usual no matter what the score ... it was great fun!
