Wed 2 Jan 2013 - An idea for golfing shorthand

(c) S.W. Evolution Limited. 2013.

I have been attempting to remember each shot and document it in this blog.
I try to do this so that I can perhaps identify patterns to avoid in the future. Or at least pick out the bad holes and try not to repeat a mistake in the future. Also helps the chat about the 15th in the pub!

I do not seem to be as good as my playing mates at memory games .. so I am considering the following shorthand:

F means fairway shot
S means short of fairway/green perhaps in rough
L means left   of fairway/green perhaps in rough
R means right of fairway/green perhaps in rough
G means on green
E means edge of the green - Added 29/07/2013
H means in the hole (from off the green)!
O means over/off/did not stop on green
B means bunker (fairway or green)
T means some sort of trouble/problem shot (behind tree, edge of cliff, pond, deep rough etc.)
P means penalty (not lost but out of bounds, unplayable,  etc.)
X means ball lost or out of bounds (counts as a special P)
D means a duff shot (you know what I mean!)
M means mulligan/mistake with no penalty
single digit at end is number of puts (unless in hole)

eg. RXFG2 went right was lost, 3 off tee to hit fairway on green and 2 put = 6
eg. OXG1 went over the green and was lost, 3 off tee then on the green and 1 put = 4

More Examples:

Par 3: H means hole in 1
Par 3: G1 means on green and 1 put = Birdy
Par 3: G2 means onto green and 2 put = Par
Par 3: LG1 means left of green, on green and 1 put = Par
Par 3: PPG3 means 3 off tee, on green and 3 put = 2+1+3 = 7
Par3: RXG3 means right and lost, 1 pen, on green and 3 put = 6

Par 4: H means hole in 1
Par 4: G1 or FH means Eagle
Par 4: FG1 or FFH means Birdy.
Par 4: FG2 = fairway, on green and 2 put = Par
Par 4: FRG3 = fairway, right of fairway, on green and 3 put = 3+3 = 6
Par 4: RPFG3 = right of fairway, penalty (perhaps lost), onto fairway after drop onto green and 3 put = 4+3 = 7

Par 5: FH is Albatros?
Par 5: FG1 or FFH is Eagle
Par 5: FFG1 or FFFH is Birdy
Par 5: FFG2 = fairway, fairway, green and 2 put = Par
Par 5: LBFOG2 = left of fairway, in bunker, onto fairway, overback of green, on green and 2 put = 7
Par 5: FFFFG2 = 7
Par 5: MFFFG3 = Mistake off tee (no penalty), fairway, fairway, fairway, green and 3 put.

Geek warning: I am a computer programer at heart so I have been thinking how I might use this to make a nice webpage. Or even a golf website!

This might work.

Type in the following and get out a nice table. (With a bit of help from my new friend Javascript).
