With R.
Got there in time to get some practice balls... In shop purchased a stand bag that I have been looking at for several months now. It had gone up 10 quid from when I first saw it! Anyway the deal was good as we played for 10 quid each and got 60 free range balls.
Spent a little time transferring my stuff to my new bag. No point having it if I am not going to use it.
30 balls seemed like a few too many but it definitely made a difference to my first few holes!
Must make a note to do this any time we get time...
The weather was overcast and cold but not freezing. There was no one in front. The one guy behind went past us at hole 5.
My first hole was a miracle as I managed a par. (Normally this hole is a disaster). The second started bad (right right right) but I settled down and managed to play the first 7 holes quite well. The 8th par 3 was a bit of a pain as I went over and the 9th was ok but spoilt by a 3 put.
At the end of the first 9 R was ahead by 1 hole. The first 4 of the back 9 were won by R. This meant that I had to win the last 5 holes to make a draw... I did! Great handicapping.
It was getting dark on the 17th and 18th so we used the glowing balls for the first time. They seemed a lot harder than normal balls and may have been the cause of R's collapse on the last hole!
The bag was a great success, took a few holes to get into te rhythm but it works fine. It can go places trolleys can not go and you can always choose the right stick. Like it! It makes a big difference having the weight distributed evenly like a rucksack.
