Sat Mar 9 2013 18 Holes at Dainton Park

This was a rare experience for me... a new proper golf course by myself. We were at Torquay and I attempted to book at Torquay but they claimed no tee times until 4 o'clock. Dainton said come along about 1 15 and we will fit you in. An absolute bargain for Saturday afternoon at 14 quid.

I got my tee time of 13:31 and went to change in the car during an absolute deluge... However it stopped almost as quick and by the time I had hit 30 warm up balls it had stopped raining. I was following a match 4 ball playing some alternate hitting game. On the first hole I saw both teams get into trouble in a bush by the first small lake. I hit a nice wood and got down with a 1 putt for 6. I was followed by 2 young lads. It was slow but I was in no rush and all went along nicely.

I had several bits of luck along the way. I hit at least 2 trees and got a good bounce. I hit some nice tee shots in the early part of the game but this did not continue into the last 9. The course was a real treat lots of hills and plenty space to make a good impression off the tee. I will definitely come back here.

For some reason the 4 ball missed out a hole to jump infront of the 2 lads infront of them. I was then left following a 2 ball of big hitters and followed by the two young lads. They were all better than me. Despite this I played steadily towards each hole and only lost 1 ball. In the second half I was not getting good tee shots but my second shot was almost always a good one.

Playing by myself is not as much fun as playing with my mates but its is still fun!

the game is here.
