Day 1 of the Arran Challenge.

With M

No one to pay so we cleared it with the lady working in the bar that we would pay the next day. She said that the course was quite tough .. she was not wrong!

There were a few players out when we started but no one behind us. As this was the first of  the Arran challenges we were both a bit over enthusiastic which is not always best for golf.

First hole up hill and sloping away sharply to the left. M struggled off tee and we both got caught rolling a long way left. This was a harsh start as the green was not flat either.

We ended up drawing the first few holes but M got the idea and started to build up a substantial lead.

On the hole by the road I waited until the road was clear (as instructed on the sign) then I hit the ball then a car came round the corner just as my ball crept over the fence. I think the ball hit the front of the car but the car did not stop (Phew). The ball was seen on the road that evening (but too dangerous to stop). The next morning someone had picked it up...

We had never played a course like this before, the fairways sloped left to right or vice versa. We found the up and downs quite tough on the legs. We both have carry bags now. I noticed that M's carry bag was a better design than mine. Luckily it's not a equipment competition.

We were caught by a pair of golfers using a buggy about half way round. It was a good idea for us to take a break. As the game progressed I made my usual recovery and played the last 9 better then the first and M ended up winning by 3 holes.

my round. M's round. result.

A great start to the Arran challenge and we have just enough days left to play all 7!

We decided to make the Arran challenge match play over 7 courses....
